Hand Printed Ornament - Phthalo Green + Copper
Hanging Christmas ornaments hand-printed in the studio with patterns inspired by William Morris wallpaper. The designs feature hawthorn leaves, blossom and scrolling tracery of jasmine and wild tulips. Each ornament is carefully assembled, sewn by hand and topped with a decorative bead.
The design is first drawn then transposed to lino blocks where two plates are carved. The first plate contains the leaf elements of the design and the second the floral aspects. Each plate is then inked using inks made in Cwmbran, South Wales and printed by hand on a vintage 1920s Adana 8x5 printing press.
