Make Your Own Handprinted Wallpaper - Weekend Workshop
Join Laura in her studio and discover how to create your own hand-printed wallpaper in the glorious Brecon Beacons on this weekend course.
Handprinted Wallpaper Weekend Workshop
Join Laura in her studio for a weekend of wallpaper-making. You’ll learn all the techniques to create hand-printed wallpaper in a relaxed and creative environment. Laura will guide you through the principles of pattern design, helping you to turn botanical studies into striking wallpaper designs. This course covers the principles of wallpaper design, explores full-drop and half-drop repeat patterns, and shows you how to transpose and carve your design to create blocks ready for hand-printing. You don’t need any drawing or printmaking experience to join and all materials are provided. You’ll leave with lengths of your wallpaper, your carved lino block and a course hand-out to continue your printing journey at home.
There are limited spaces available so book early to avoid disappointment. If you’re a group of 3 plus and you can’t spot a suitable date to attend, do get in touch to discuss a bespoke date.

2026 Dates
Febrary 28th - March 1st
April 18th - 19th
May 23rd -24th
July 11th - 12th
August 15th - 16th
The Weekend - What to Expect
Day one
The morning 10 - 1 pm
We’ll gather in the studio for a morning coffee, after a quick studio tour and introductory talk on all things wallpaper, pattern design and form, we’ll head out to gather inspiration in the near surroundings. We’ll return to the studio to develop our drawings and turn our studies into motifs and design elements to create a striking pattern design.
Lunch1- 2pm
You’re welcome to bring your own lunch to the workshop or head out to the town to grab a bite in one of the many independent cafes.
The Afternoon 2- 5pm
By early afternoon you’ll be ready to dive into carving you’re lino block. I’ll show you how to transpose your design onto the lino and provide an expert eye on any amendments to your design you may need to make. You’ll spend the afternoon getting lost in the immensely therapeutic practice of hand-carving (it’s addictive - talk to any printmaker about this!). We’ll stop for afternoon cake, lots of chats and a full exploration of your creativity.
Day Two
The morning 10 - 1 pm
The print day. We’ll spend the morning checking alignments and preparing your block for printing. After a couple of test prints to double-check your design for the final time you’ll be let loose to print lengths of paper. I’ll explain different printing methods and delve into the technical aspects of wallpaper making.
Lunch 1-2 pm
The afternoon 1 - 4 pm
The afternoon will give plenty of scope to continue printing. We’ll finish with a debrief and Q&A to make sure you’ve got all the information you need to carry on printing at home.
What to bring
All materials to create your wallpaper are provided at the workshop - you don’t need any experience to join! However, if you would like to bring a sketchbook or journal that would be useful. If you’ve found a design or inspiration you like before the workshop feel free to bring any images with you and we can discuss how the inspiration might work in your design.
An apron or workshop clothing - Printmaking is messy! Please wear suitable clothing, something you don’t mind getting paint on in the event of an accidental spill or splash.
Footwear - we’ll be heading outside for the first part of the course, you won’t need walking boots but you may be trampling off road so do wear something comfy
Lunch - please bring a packed lunch, or feel free to head into town to grab a bite to eat. Tea, coffee and lots of cake provided.
And that’s it - please feel free to e-mail me with any questions you might have, and I look forward to welcoming you to the studio
