In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own hand-pressed decorative clay tiles. Perfect as a unique gift, wall hanging, or a special piece, you’ll leave the workshop with two tiles and the skills to create many more!
During the session, I’ll guide you through working with air-dry clay – a brilliant material for creating pieces easily at home as a kiln isn’t required. You will shape your tile base, before pressing florals and other found objects/textures into the surface. Through demonstrations and hands-on advice, we’ll explore specialist techniques to add texture and balance to your composition. Whether you prefer something rustic, modern, or a little whimsical, you’ll leave with a piece that’s completely your own.
In the second half of the workshop, I’ll demonstrate how to achieve a beautiful painted finish, including rustic effects, metallic gilding and patinas. To practice your application technique, you’ll be supplied with a pre-made dry tile, designed and made by me advance. So you’ll leave with two pieces, one painted tile and a second to complete at your own leisure using the skills and techniques you’ve learnt at the workshop.
You can take your tiles home after the workshop or collect them from the studio once fully dry.

Refreshments: Tea, coffee and cake will be provided. Please bring your own lunch and extra snacks along. There’s also a bakery with lots of lunch options a few minutes walk away in town.
