The Session:

Relaxed, informal and designed to help you develop your skills through drawing from life. This is not an explicitly “taught” class however if you’re a beginner or just need a little inspiration then I’ll be hand to run through the basics of drawing human anatomy and offer you pointers along the way. For those who are more comfortable with drawing and simply want the opportunity to draw from life, then you can fully relax and work through each pose at your own pace. Life drawing is a really intuitive process so you’ll be rocking your inner Picasso in no time at all. Loosely, the session will contain a mixture of long and short poses from our lovely model, providing you the opportunity to develop gestural and quick sketching as well as more detailed drawing. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your ability to draw will improve, life drawing is an absolute must for any artist both budding and established. A totally relaxing way to spend an afternoon with good company and other like-minded creatives.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided as well as some soothing music to help you unwind into Sunday afternoon. If you want more info then get in touch on info@lauradennis.co.uk

What to bring:

To make this session as sustainable as possible please bring along your own materials. You don’t need anything fancy, just some paper and charcoal and some white chalk will do. An easel helps too - a foldable field easel or table easel will be perfect -  as does a drawing board (this can literally be a piece of wood that you can rest on or prop on your easel as support) . You’re more than welcome to bring paint but please note that the good old health and safety club prevents use of solvents in inclosed spaces (so no turpentine, sorry!). Graphite pencils, conte and other drawing mediums as well as a putty rubber will also be handy.

Other great mediums for life drawing are pastels and oil sticks, these are great for capturing colour and forms quickly. Some people prefer to draw on large sheets of paper and others in sketch books - it’s entirely up to you!

If you need help with what to bring then don’t hesitate to ask, just email me on info@lauradennis.co.uk. I’ll also have a limited amount of materials at the class that you can buy direct if you get really stuck - please let me know in advance if you can’t provide your own materials and I’ll do my best to help.

The Cost:

£12.50 for a two and half hour session. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment !

On a Side Note:

Please note we welcome everyone of all abilities and backgrounds however as class contains nude modelling individuals between age 16 and 18 will need to provide parental consent to join.

We’re always on the lookout for models so if you’d be interested in life modelling for the class then do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.
