The Class:

Tap into your inner artist with this informal art class. Part art class, part social and 100% delightful, in this series of classes Laura will take you through the basics of watercolour and other arty related things. This one’s for all the beginners, the “I-have-no-idea-where-to start-ers” and for anyone who wants to improve their skills, meet new people and get chatting away to other creatives.

This is your chance to get creative, try something new, brush upon those, errmm, brush skills and socialise…what a lovely way to spend a Friday eve hey!

So, if you’re a Oban resident or simply visiting the Gateway to the Islands, then come and join the Oban Creative Social Club for a taste of something different.

What’s included?

For the first two lessons (that’s September 6th and 13th) you will just need to bring yourself and any creative flare you may have.  You don’t need to have any experience, so don’t panic. I’ll provide all the materials, the expertise and guidance as well as a generally social and warm atmosphere. Do bring your own vino too if you fancy a wee glass whilst creating your masterpiece, it is Friday after all!  I’ll also have some soft drinks and tea and coffee (and biscuits of course!)

Week 3 (Sept 27th) and beyond…. This class is all about getting people together and so to make it as sustainable as possible our lovely attendees will be asked to provide their own materials from here on in (you can also buy direct at the class) . Materials you’ll need to bring along will include paper, paint and your favourite brushes. No idea what to buy? Then no worries,  I’ll provide a list of absolute essentials to get you started.

You can join anytime, you don’t need to attend lesson 1 to enjoy lesson 3 (and so on and so on). We’ll be going through different techniques, subjects and themes each week loosely stitched together for continuity but don’t panic if you’ve missed some lessons. This is all about art and doing something different, it’s fun, informal and relaxed. I actively welcome student’s thoughts and insights, so if you’ve always had a deep burning desire to know how to paint a lemon then let me know and I’ll do my best to weave it into the class.

A little background:

The Oban Creative Social Club is run by me ( if it’s escaped you, my name is Laura ! )  I am an artist living in the incredibly beautiful little harbour town of Oban on the West Coast of Scotland.  I want to bring people who enjoy making and creating together in a really informal and social way and explore different mediums and art related practise as well as some craft-type activities too, so hence the name the The Creative Social Club - it’s not just purely art or just purely craft, its creativity, art, making things and most importantly fun, all wrapped into one.  I’m all about encouraging people from all walks of life to tap into their inner creative whilst also getting the chance to meet new people. This series of classes are not just about learning some basic painting techniques but to celebrate being social and belonging to an arty tribe! So come and join , it’ll be super fun - trust me!
